Over 80 Years of Experience You Can Trust

The Comfort Inn sits outside a major university in Alexandria, Virginia. Trisco Construction Services (TCS) was called in to evaluate the condition of the aging Exterior Insulation and Finish System (EIFS) which was allowing water to enter into the wall system, as well as some of the rooms. Our experts uncovered severe leaks which completely rusted away wall-framing members, and turned the sheathing behind the EIFS into “mush.” What was originally scheduled to be a re-caulking and coating project, now became a major reconstruction and stabilization project.

Numerous wall sections were removed exposing the rooms to weather elements.  Moving quickly to replace the wall framing system, sheating, insulation, and electrical components was imperative.

A key component of the restoration was the installation of proper flashing around windows and at various building components to prevent future moisture from entering the building and control the flow of water should it ever get behind the new installed EIFS system.

This project is a true testament to the fact that water penetration over a period of time not only causes discoloration, mold, and other unsightly conditions but serious structural damage. Continued maintenance of EIFS systems becomes critical to the service life of a building.
